- William Henry Cairns was born MAYBE 1836 in Londonderry, North of Ireland.
William was born in Londonderry, North of Ireland of Scotch parents. He went to Canada when he was about 14 years of age and is believed to have stayed with an Aunt or a friend of his parents. He also had a brother Robert living there too. He came down to Brooklyn N.Y. when that was still country and worked for a man who had a dairy. The name of the man he worked for is believed to be Suydam. He married Mary Francis Phillips the 4th. born in this country. He later bought a farm in Melville Long Island N.Y.. William was believed to be 78 years old when he died so if that is true he would have been born about 1836. William fought in the Civil war.
In the 1920 Census His son lists his father as being bornin in Scotland.
+ I have been told that he fought in the Civil War, I need to check into this. William Henry Cairns was naturalized. I believe William came into through Quebec, Canada in about 1833.

Birth
- Frank DeBiasio was born on 22 July 1883 in Roccamonifino, Italy.
Frank Debiasio came into the United States from Roccamonifino, Italy on 12 April 1901. He changed the spelling of his last name from Dibiasio to Debiasio. The reason for this is because it was spelled wrong on his naturalization papers. Before Frank Sr. died he insisted that his head stone spelling be Dibiasio. The Family stone is spelled Debiasio but Franks is spelled Dibiasio.
When Mr. Debiasio arrived from Italy in 1901, he traveled from the Brunswick railroad station down to Maine St. covered with deep mud. Pedestrians used planks to cross the street. People who had come to town to "trade" hitched there horses to post. Debiasio had to resort to sign language, but soon learned enough English to become a citizen. He met several other Italians who worked in the feldspar mines at Cathance where Debiasio joined his uncle, Antonio Debiasio, upon coming to this country.
His first job at the mines was a water boy. He carried drinking water to the men who worked in the quarries and his daily pay was 90 cents for a ninehour day, (in those days a pair of shoes cost a dollar and a half or less and one could buy a whole chicken for 50 cents), a rate which he doubled when Major Willis employed him in the mines drilling and blasting and in charge of a crew of men. Debiasio also worked for Norman Smith who was instrumental in building the feldspar mill in Topsham Village and in getting the siding laid to Elm St., where formally teams of horses had hauled the "spar." For 22 years he was timekeeper and foreman at Consolidated Feldspar.
During the depression he moved his family to Peace Dale Rhode Island and later to Portland Connecticut so he could work in the feldspar mines for the same company he worked for in Topsham Maine. About 1931 the family moved back to Topsham Maine where they lived in a camp on Tedford road one winter. They owned a house on Cathance road before they left the first time but when they came back the family (Trufant) renting the house would not move out but bought it instead. He them bought land and a house with 5 acres on Middlesex road for $2500.
He was 2 hours away from his 88th birthday when he died. Frank DeBiasio was naturalized on 24 January 1923.
